On our first trip, the wonderful Nichole Collins and I grabbed our Kini tops and headed up to the mountains surrounding Lake Tahoe.
While there are many trails surrounding Tahoe, the Tahoe Rim Trail, starting at Tahoe Meadows is hard to beat. Starting in the meadow, you see a wall of trees that beckon the daily explorer to enter so the trail can show off its breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe and impressive expansion of towering trees that stretch for miles. The changing leaves provided us with picture perfect scenery, the yellows in the grass contrasting with the green of the trees surrounding us with each step through the meadow. Our hike took us into the forest and straight up to the side of the mountain overlooking the unparalleled beauty that is Lake Tahoe.
Hiking is a great way to reconnect with nature and become re-centered when other aspects of life get too hectic. It not only is good for your physical health, but mental health as well. Hiking is a way to slow down and appreciate your surroundings. We are lucky enough over here in Reno to have Lake Tahoe as our backyard and the numerous hiking trails that wrap around the entirety of the lake. Even if you don’t have mountains or lakes around you, it is still possible to get out and enjoy nature. Grab a friend, grab your Strange Bikini and get going!
