Here is my short and sweet recap and reboot for 2019.
What I plan to do most of in 2019. Just say no.
If you know me then you know I say “yes” to just about anything. And “Yes Man” is one of my favorite movies, but it’s time for me to start to weigh out each opportunity. At age 32 I’ve realized maybe saying “no” will lead to me being more fulfilled by partnerships and commitments. Here’s to saying “yes” to the right things and “no” to all the bull shit.
Handing off jobs
My biggest accomplishment professionally in 2018 was handing off my workload. I have wanted to build my dream team for years and am still working on it, but I finally hired a digital agency to help with the website, and social media. In 2019 I will work hard on my budget in order to hire more team members. I want to get back to designing and creating. Everything else just distracts me and I can’t wait to just do what I love.
Having calvin
Having a baby has been the best thing to happen to me for obvious reasons, but Calvin has allowed me to justify taking more time out of the office. When I do, I actually accomplish more because I’m out living life and not just working all the damn time. Here’s to putting my energy where it’s most valuable.
Spend more time outside
I really want to stop living through my ambassadors and do that shit myself. Hotspringing, road tripping, airbnb-ing, hiking, sight seeing basically, all the doing. That’s what I want. I’m constantly in awe of Strangers out there exploring and living their (yeah I’m gonna say it) best life! Watch out 2019 ima get atchu.
Spend more time on the business not in the business. This is a reoccurring theme, however I love this saying because it’s so true and most business owners get caught up in the business instead of working on it. I need to do what I do best. Design and inspire. That’s all. Make that happen Ali
Focus on my health
News flash… it is not that easy to lose the baby weight. Or at least for me it hasn’t been. I really want to be able to feel great in my own swimsuits, so I better make this a priority or else I’m going to have to stop designing bikinis and start baking cake pops instead.
Make real life connections with people.
The best paycheck from Strange Bikinis is when I meet real life strangers and we become friends. Whether it’s from a photo shoot or pop up shop or ambassador. It’s so rewarding to meet people and learn from others. I want to continue to travel and connect with all of you. Should I visit you?
Simple and sweet post from what I learned and how I’m going to go after my 2019. Thanks for caring. I hope your 2019 is kick ass. I can’t wait to show you the new collection. Stay tuned on social for sneak peeks and the collection release. It’s my favorite so far! Here's me doing a quality check in at the factory a few days ago.
Happy New Year everyone.
Ali

5 Lessons I’ve Learned from Normal Girls in Bikinis

by Ali Conway April 17, 2020

For women, few things in life will make them reflect on their own body goals as much as putting on a bikini. We have a tendency to notice – and over-inflate – every minute, perceived body flaw that we think we have. And no matter how many people tell us we might look great in even the boldest bikini, we often never seem to accept it. But there are some lessons that can be learned from strangers, those “normal girls in bikinis”, that are sure to help you embrace your own body and realize that all bikinis are for normal girls.
